Various ebook readers have different functions. Let us stop on the touch screen functionality. Pocketbook 302, Sony touch edition, Onyx Boox 60, Hanvon N518 and Hanvon N526 have touch screen with possibility to write, annotate or mark e-texts which you are reading. Hand writing text recognition is a unique feature of Hanvon N518 and Hanvon N526. Sony reader and Hanvon wisereaders also give you opportunity to save annotations in PDF format. It is a useful feature but how it is achieved. There are 2 ways for ebook readers to be supplied with touch screens. First construction provides readers with ability to control device by simple finger touch. Sony PRS-600 touch edition and Pocketbook 302 have the sensor screen layer installed ABOVE the ePaper display. It is comfortable but the displays of such e-book readers are more grey, light reflective and lower contrast then ebook readers without touch screen. As for the 2-d group consisting of Onyx Boox 60, Hanvon N518 and Hanvon N526, they have the Wacom sensor screen installed UNDER the e-ink display. These ereaders have the same reading quality as ebook readers which do not have touch screen. Their displays are really white, not reflective and high contrast but hand writing and touch screen operating is possible with Wacom stylus only.

Each e-reader must be filled with e-books. There are different ways how to download ebooks. Standard ereadersdo not have wireless functionality. Hanvon, Hanlin, Astak, Bebook, Sony Pocket Edition, Pocketbook and others should be connected to your laptop by USP wire to download e-books. Easier way is to copy ebooks to SD memory card which can be inserted into the ebook reader. Wireless e-book reading devices: Kindle, Nook, Sony PRS-900 can connect to the same brands online book stores selling propriatory formats ebooks. Onyx Boox 60 is the only wireless reading device with web browser downloading ebooks from any e-book stores or libraries.

When you chose reader device it is important to understand which languages ebooks you will read. If only English then you can chose any e-reader. If you want to have multi-language support, it would be better to buy Hanvon or Onyx Boox reader device which have firmware with support for all main languages, scripts and coding.

The sizes of the eBook reader displays range is from 5-inch to 10-inch. Less size - cheaper price. 5-inch Hanvon N516, N518 and N526, Sony PRS-300, Astak 5, BeBook Mini are the best choice for carrying in the pocket. Large size ebook readers like Kindle DX, Irex Iliad, emerging Que and Sony PRS-900 are better for letter ( A4 ) size PDF docs. 6-inch models ( our best choice is Onyx Boox by rich functions ) combine both possibilities small and large devices advantages. The e-ink screens with glass inside are fragile and larger the screen more chance that one day it will be broken. That is why the large devices are not so much spread yet.

The prices of eBook readers with real e-ink displays begin now from 170-190$ Sony PRS-300 and Hanvon N516 and go up to $1000 per Irex Ilad. They depend on the screen size ( larger- more expensive ) and the following features availability - WiFi, Touch Screen, Built-in-memory size, number of eBook formats, scripts and languages supported, number of grey levels of the e-ink screens. When you check specifications, do not forget to ask supplier what is included into the set. The same ereader maybe sold with wall charger, USB cord and leather case as Onyx Boox 60 and as a bare device without accessories ( BeBook Neo ). Hanvon N516 ( Azbooka N516 ) , N518 and N526 prices include leather case, 2GB-4GB SD cards and USB cord. All Sony ereaders are sold without accessories besides SONY PRS-900. You will really need to buy later protective case and charger and they may cost up to $50 so remember to check what is included into ebook reader set. When you chose ereader - you should be sure to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

What is the best ereader price? Which is the cheapest e-book reader with e-paper display and really good quality? At present the best cheap reader device is Hanvon N516 sold at $189 for full set with accessories. Is it a good time to buy now? The prices went down during the last year. Ereaders now are manufactured massively and their production cost goes down. But the prices will go up significantly when the Chinese currency yuan exchange rate against USD and EUR will go up. So now it maybe the best time to get your first e-reader.
